A funeral service celebrating the life of Timothy R. “Tim” Blankenship will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, with Reverend Mary S. Whetstone officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.
Tim passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2017 in Newark. He was born on May 1, 1954 in Newark, Ohio to the late Roma A. Blankenship and Sally J. (Slack) Blankenship Chaney.
Tim graduated from Utica High School in the class of 1973. He married his beloved wife, Lupe on May 9, 1981. A stone mason by trade, Tim worked for the Restoration Company and Walters Associates for over 25 years. After retirement, Tim worked at the Licking County Auto Auction. He enjoyed cars, fishing, watching TV shows and golfing. Tim will be missed by his family and friends. In recent years, Tim’s most well spent time was with his grandchildren and family who he loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mele “Lupe” Blankenship; one son, Ira (Andrea) Blankenship; two daughters, Heidi (James) Walters and Melody (Michael) Bolin; five grandchildren, Isaiah Walters, Jakai Walters, Michael Bolin, Davyan Bolin and one grandchild on the way; one aunt, Shelva Futral; two brothers, Charles (Kay) Blankenship and Nathan (Lisa Newell) Blankenship; two sisters, Amy (Brian) Stafford and Kathleen (Roy) Flanagan; many nieces and nephews and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ira and Virginia Slack; grandchild, Isaac; his half-brother, Danny Maynard; and a half-sister, Annette “Winnie” Blankenship.
