A funeral service celebrating the life of Marguerite Kosier, age 100, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Jeff Gill officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Marguerite passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Heath Nursing and Care Center.  She was born July 7, 1917 in Newark, Ohio to the late Ralph and Catherine Newnon.

Marguerite volunteered at The Salvation Army for over ten years. She was very passionate for this organization. She loved to play bingo, was a little feisty sometimes and a friend to all. Marguerite was a very kind caring and classy woman who in times of frustration would say “Oh sugar”. Marguerite was the recipient of The United Way annual Ken Johnston Award at the age of 98 for her volunteer efforts and dedication to The Salvation Army. She was the oldest continuous member of Central Christian Church at the time of her death. Marguerite joined Central Christian Church in 1944.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl K. Fletcher; grandchildren, Shane Harley Davis and Michael Kosier; and cousin Denny Bending.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Brennan Martin Kosier (1977); and son Jeff Kosier (2008); and sister, Eva Bending.

Friends and relatives may call thirty minutes prior to the service (from 10:30 – 11 a.m.) on Wednesday, December 6, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
