Blessed Sacrament Church
A Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara “Barb” Ann (Hamilton) Rue, age, 80, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 394 E. Main Street, Newark.
Barb passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at her residence.
She was born August 31, 1937 in Marlow, Oklahoma to the late James Ralph and Alma V. (Vestal) Hamilton.
Barb graduated from Loco High School in Oklahoma. She was married to her loving husband, Franklin “Mutt” Rue on April 4, 1954 and they moved to Ohio in 1958.
Barb was employed by Jim Grady Pontiac, Walker-Battat and Mathews Ford. She was a strong-willed and loving woman. Barb was an active parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Church, where she was the past directors of the choir and RCIA program. She was a woman of God’s love and shared her joy for him with many people. Barb had a sense of humor and was an honest woman. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and adored her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Mutt of 64 years; a daughter, Kay Linn (Ron) Michaux; daughter-in-law, Beckie Rue; three grandchildren, Nici (Austin Von Dach) Rue, Courtney (Craig) Loudermilk, Stephanie (Tyler) Preston; three great-grandchildren, Paisley, Emma and David; and two sisters, Ginny (James) Bumgarner and Gloria (Blaine) Smith.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her two sons, Robert Don Rue and Randall Lee Rue.
Friends may call from 2-4 or 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
Inurnment will take place at a later date.
