A celebration of life service for Marshall R. “Bud” Hoy, age 67, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Wes Humble officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Friends and family may call two hours prior to the service (from 9-11 a.m.) on Thursday, May 17, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
Marshall passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio.
He was born March 7, 1951 in Newark, Ohio to the late Donna Jean (Shaw) Dickerson.
Marshall was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always there to help guide them with good advice. He had a great sense of humor at times and will long be remembered as a kind and caring man. He was employed for 30 years by the Newark City Street Department. Marshall could fix and restore just about any automobile. Marshall was also a very talented woodworker, enjoyed gardening and liked to work in his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of 44 years, whom he married on March 2, 1974; a daughter, Misty L. (Timothy) Grigsby; a son, Jason E. (Jennifer) Hoy; a brother, Andy Hoy; two sisters, Sally Carroll and Jana Cable; five grandchildren, Adriana Hoy, Shelby Grigsby, Justin Hoy, Rylee Grigsby and Kelsey Grigsby.
In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Brookover.
