A funeral service for Jean Ann “Cookie” Priest, 73, of Heath, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 6, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 N. Fifth Street, Newark with Reverend Mark Katrick officiating.
Jean passed away unexpectedly July 2, 2018 at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born May 20, 1945 to the late Gerald G. and Jean M. (Craft) Priest.
Jean graduated from Newark High School with the class of 1963. She worked at the Newark Air Force Base as an administrative assistant where she later retired. She was a member of the International Sorority, Beta Sigma Chi and very active in the group’s Ohio Chapter, Beta Alpha Master which she entered in 1965. Jean greatly enjoyed traveling with Freedom Years with her special friend, Donna Huddle, and had served as a past board member.
Jean loved her family and delighted in their get-togethers, cherishing all the memories they shared with one another. Although active in many activities she always made time for sudoku games.
Jean was a lifelong member at St. John’s United Church of Christ.
Jean is survived by two brothers, Terry J. (Sheila) Priest and Robert A. Priest; nieces, Crystal Priest, Amber (Dave) Rogers and Tiffany (Terry) Schulz; and great-nephew, Tavious Head; great niece, Petrova Head; and special cousin, Tonya Julian and many other cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
