|Designing Your Funeral|
When planning a funeral or memorial service you should consider the ways in which you want to pay tribute to the life of your loved one while also maintaining a legacy for generations to come.
Honoring the Life of a Loved One
At a time of loss it is common for family and friends to share their love and to support one another. We often hear families say, "Weddings and funerals are the only time we get together". This means that people in our society place an importance in gathering to celebrate happy times and to support one another during difficult times. This time of gathering gives you an opportunity to focus on the life of your loved one through a collective love and respect for the deceased, and provides a time for the healing process to begin.
Burial or Cremation?
The first decision after the death of a loved one is whether you will choose traditional earth burial or cremation. Often times people know their own preferences regarding burial or cremation. However, if the wishes of the deceased are not stated in advance, this may be a difficult choice. Our staff is here to help you make an informed decison.
If earth burial is chosen you will need to make a decision on which cemetery will be selected as a final resting place. You will also need to decide on an appropriate casket and burial vault. A burial vault is required by most cemeteries. It provides protection to the casket and helps hold the weight of the earth.
If you think cremation is the most appropriate choice, you will need to select an urn and decide whether you want the urn placed in the cemetery grounds or perhaps a mausoleum niche. With inurnment it may be necessary to select an urn vault, in addition to the urn, depending on the requirements of the cemetery.
