ObituaryHelen S. Moffatt, age 93, of Heath, formerly of Surfside Beach, SC, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Chapel Grove Inn. She was born March 2, 1923 in Johnsonburg, PA, to the late Charles H. and Clara (Steudler) Stewart.Helen was an accomplished cook and homemaker, an avid reader, an excellent square dancer, a daily swimmer then walker, and a special friend to many. Her lifelong delight in starting each new day with a positive outlook was appreciated and admired by all who knew her. Helen was a longtime member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and the Red Hatters, both located in Surfside Beach, SC.
She and her husband, Bill, lived in Switzerland for 10 years and shared many wonderful memories of their world travels together. Helen always said that the most important thing to her was “family”. She expressed gratitude for her long life with wonderful friends and family and was especially grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know her four beautiful and in her words “perfect” great grandchildren.Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Peter Myer of Thornville, OH; son, William C. Moffatt of Albuquerque, NM; five grandchildren: Lindsay Moffatt, Christopher Moffatt, Adam (Nicole) Bainbridge, PJ (Abby) Myer, and Gwyneth Myer; and four precious great-grandchildren: Owen, Emma, Riana and Kaighan. She is also survived by her brother, Rev. Donald Stewart (Charlotte) of Greenville, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William H. Moffatt in 2002; her sister, Doris Montgomery; and brother, Charles B. Stewart.A private gathering and Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. next to her beloved husband.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to a charity of your choice.The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 1249 Hebron Road, Heath is assisting the family with arrangements.
