A funeral service celebrating the life of Dessie I. Lambert, age 95, of London, Ohio, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 3, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Dessie passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Madison Health in London, Ohio. She was born March 12, 1922 in Cherry Grove, West Virginia to the late Fred and Bertie (Warner) Wimer.
Dessie was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed. She enjoyed shopping and going out to eat with her family. Just like Rosie the Riveter, Dessie built Navy bombers during World War II in Baltimore, Maryland for the Eastern Aircraft Company.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Lambert of Spring Hill, Florida; two daughters, Charlotte (Richard) Hirst of London and Sharon (Tim) Rector of Troy; grandchildren, Mark (Jill) Hirst of St. Louis, Missouri, Kimberly Lambert of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, David (Angie) Hirst of Columbus, Patti (Frank) Simonetta of Westerville, Amy Rector of Columbus, Dr. Christa (Dat Duong) Rector of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Eric (Nakesha) Hirst of Washington, DC; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Lambert (2009).
