A graveside service celebrating the life of Charles Howard Watson, age 86, of Newark, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, at Wilson Cemetery.
Charles passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at his home. He was born April 2, 1931 in Newark, Ohio to the late William Garfield and Sarah Virginia (Sheets) Watson.
Charles retired from Arvin-Meritor in Heath, formerly Rockwell Intl., after 30 years of service. He played Santa for many years and helped and assisted the Amish as a driver.
He is survived by two daughters, Sarah (Bill) Slack McGee and Charlotte Davis; eight grandchildren, Tara Newlon, Sarah L. (Wayne) Miracle, Edward Slack Jr., Alicia (Sean) Dennison, Marissa (Evan) Wagner, Wendy (Richard) Young, Tina (Brian) Davis, Gary (Dreama) Davis; sixteen great-grandchildren, Kendra Newlon, Cara Newlon, Timmy (Raven) Newlon, Jimmy (Kistan) Newlon, Trevor (Lexi) Newlon, Charles (Kelsey) Miracle, John Cole Miracle, Ky Dennison, Kali Dennison, Kade Dennison, Jesse Wagner, Nathan Wagner, Bryce Wagner, John Prince, Cheyenne Young, and Crystal Low; nine great- great-grandchildren, Adina Low, Rayshella Balo, Junior Harris, Brantley Harris, Kolten Harris, Kamilla Newlon, Lucien Newlon, Trinily Newlon, Michael Davis, four more on the way; two sisters, Linda Snoor and Betty Lupher; a sister-in-law, Nellie Davis and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Claras J. Watson; son Charles W. Watson; son-in-law, Gerald W. Daris; grandson, Charlie W. Davis; brothers, Bob Watson and Bill Watson; sisters, Kathleen Owens, Mary Jane Powers and Bee Watson; brothers-in-law, Duck Snoor, Pete Onews, and Lowell Lupher and Milton Davis; and a sister-in-law, Norma Vaughn.
