A memorial service for Ruth will be held on Saturday, January 19, at 11 a.m. at the Second Baptist Church, 19 West National Drive, Newark.
Edna “Ruth” Miller, age 80, of Newark, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at her residence.
She was born April 18, 1938 in Morgan County, Ohio to the late Dale and Dorothy (Rex) Gilliland.
Ruth had previously worked with Diebold- Nixdorf for 25 years before retiring. She was a 1957 graduate of Malta McConnelsville High School. Ruth enjoyed collecting all types of coloring books and was quite skilled in making crafts. She could be described as private, independent and strong willed.
She is survived by two sons, Steven “Douglas” (Sheryl) McPeek and William “Jason” Miller; a daughter, Sheryl “Deanne” (Doug) Potter; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila "Denise" Lacy; a brother, David Gilliland; and two sisters, Esther Gilliland Gesterling and Joan Eickel.

The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark is assisting the Miller family with arrangements.
Ruth was a co-worker of mine for many years at Diebold. Enjoyed her company many times over and over We would pick up right where we lefted off Sharing many memories of her family and other co -workers please let me know if I can be of any help to her family Love always Jana Lee
