A funeral service celebrating the life of Grace A. (Robinson) Goodwin, of Heath, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 31, at The First Baptist Church of Heath, 525 South 30th Street, Heath, with Pastor Dave Welsch officiating.
Grace passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Newark, Ohio. She was born May 6, 1932 in Follansbee, West Virginia to the late Howard and Bertha (Greaser) Nowery.
Grace held a strong Christian faith and was a devoted member of The First Baptist Church of Heath. She was also active with the Fraternal Order of Eagles #387 and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds.
She collected all types of Longaberger baskets, angels and various bells of different shapes and sizes. She was a talented cook, creating many delicious dishes for her family including her wonderful chicken noodles and banana nut bread. Grace was affectionately known as “Granny Snowball” to her grandchildren, due to her snow-white hair. For those who knew Grace best, understood that she truly loved people and was always there to help others in their time of need. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by a special daughter-in-law, Rebecca A. (Duane) Goodwin; five sons, Joseph H. Jackson, William F. Robinson, James C. Robinson, Charles Herrington and Gary Herrington; five daughters, Pamela S. (William) Evans, Lori A. Miller, Lisa M. Skeens, Danielle L. Haynes and Gail P. Bragg; two brothers, Joseph Nowery and Paul King; a sister, Pauline King-Curto; fifteen grandchildren, Jessica Jackson, Jason Jackson, Chad Swan, Meghan Swan, Jeremy Kindred, Dawn Evans, William Evans III, James Dazell, Erika Robinson, Stephanie Robinson, James Robinson, Elizabeth Jewett, Monique Evans, Jamison Haynes, Alexander Haynes; and twenty-six great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren: and many nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Goodwin (2017); and a son, Donald E. “Toby” Robinson (2020); a brother, Edwin Earl Nowery (1995); a sister, Violet Mae "Dollie" Jessing (1997): two grandsons; and another brother.
Family and friends may call on one hour prior to the service (from 9:30-10:30 a.m.) on Monday, August 31, at The First Baptist Church of Heath, 525 South 30th Street, Heath.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church of Heath, 525 South 30th Street, Heath.
The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 1249 Hebron Road, Heath, is assisting the Goodwin family with arrangements.
I'll miss Gladys so much. I didn't know her long, but she always had a hug, kiss on the forehead, & smile for me. Her family is in my prayers.
