A private gathering of family and friends will celebrate the life of Gary Lyle Levy, age 77, of Newark, on Thursday, July 30, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service. A private burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Jeff Smith officiating. The Licking County Veterans Alliance will conduct military honors at graveside.
Gary passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born July 20, 1943 in Newark, Ohio to the late John and Florence (McKnight) Levy.
Gary was a member of the Hanover American Legion Post #764 and the Ohio National Guard. He had worked at the Newark Air Force base before retiring. Gary enjoyed farming and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie (Linton) Levy, whom he married on March 11, 1967; two daughters, Sarah (Madoc) Sheehan; Beth (Jason) Hodges; grandchildren, Maya and Quinn Sheehan and Julia, Evan and Ryan Hodges; many other family members and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made in Gary’s name to the Hanover American Legion, Post #764, 1989 West High Street NE, Newark, Ohio 43055.
The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, is assisting the Levy family with arrangements.
